Web and Marketing Trends in 2023

What are the trends for 2023?

If the past few years has taught us anything it’s to expect change and stay ahead of the curve of how your industry is evolving. We’ve changed a good amount of how we do business, but haven’t changed the core of what we do.

If you want to compete and grow your business, you knew to know what's going on in the ecosystem. Here are some of the top newer and continuing trends we see for the upcoming year:

2023 marketing trends

Increased focus on user experience (UX):

As the competition for user attention grows, web development agencies like Werkbot will continue to place an emphasis on designing websites that provide a seamless, intuitive, and enjoyable user experience. This involves using design elements such as responsive layouts, clear navigation, and engaging content to keep users engaged and coming back for more.

Continued growth of mobile

With the increasing prevalence of smartphones and tablets, it is likely that mobile devices will continue to be a major focus for web development agencies. This will still involve designing websites that are optimized for mobile devices, as well as developing mobile apps to complement existing web-based services. We specialize in developing websites and business apps that work agnostically across devices and platforms.

Personalization and targeted marketing:

As consumers become more savvy and less receptive to generic marketing messages, agencies may turn to personalization and targeted marketing to deliver more relevant and effective marketing campaigns.  This could involve using data analytics and machine learning to deliver personalized content and offers to individual users based on their interests and behaviors.

As a side note, you will also want to make sure that you have adequate cookie policies. More states jumping on board and requiring you to announce the data you collect.

Increased use of video:

Video is increasingly being used as a marketing and communication tool, and one of the most effective ways to tell a good story. We will often use  video to showcase products and services, create engaging social media content, or deliver educational or entertaining content to users.

ADA and Accessibility:

This is increasingly being recognized as a key consideration in the design, execution of campaigns, and ADA compliance relating to SEO. This also includes making sure that websites are easy to navigate, use clear and understandable language, and provide alternative ways of accessing content, such as through text-to-speech software or closed captions. This also includes ensuring that marketing materials, such as emails and social media posts, are accessible to all users, and that events and campaigns are inclusive and welcoming to people with disabilities. Making marketing materials and campaigns accessible can help businesses to reach a wider audience and to better serve the needs of all their customers.

Finally, Greater use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning:

Both scary and not so scary, AI and machine learning technologies are becoming increasingly sophisticated and may be used more frequently in web development and marketing efforts. This could involve using AI to optimize website performance, deliver personalized content and recommendations, or automate certain marketing tasks.

AI is new to the list, but it also has the greatest impact on change. By the end of the year, we will see a large divide in the businesses who've adapted and integrated AI vs those who have not.

The takeaway from this list

Several of these items were on our list from last year and have been an important part of how businesses tell their story. If you need help with your story and how to approach it in the digital world we'd love to talk.
